9 weeks to go – the sun is out but there is still work to do!

Last Sunday 30 participants got together for the third of the four planning sessions.

Various jobs were completed including an update, vaccinations, introduction to hygiene and Gambian culture, practising Scouting skills and counting Buy a Brick money.

In the next 3-4 weeks we have to complete fundraising – the Dog Show next Sunday (1st June) and the Barn Dance are crucial to reaching the target in Hornchurch – please make sure everyone does their bit to make these a success!

There is still concern about the grant target in Hornchurch but as most of the Networkers are back from university they have taken on the challenge of raising an extra £150 each towards the grant shortfall – thanks to them for taking on this extra challenge.

Buy-a-brick total is up to about £1750 so we can start to see what building preparations can be done before we arrive in Basse – hopefully the base will be in place before we get there! Well done to those who have taken part in the section visits – just a few more of these to follow up but it has really helped get a lot of people in the District involved in this project.

I will be sending out reminders about climbing money, health checks and passports over the next few days so please help me to get this sorted ASAP.

I will send out the update and itinerary from last weekend via e-mail in the next few days.

For those of you in half-term – enjoy your week off, for those mid-exams good luck.
