December Fundraising Update

So here we are, the month of December, now nearing the end of 2013, which can only mean one thing…
Just under 7 months are left until we embark on our journey to The Gambia!

Following from the scorching success at the dog show in the summer, we’ve since had three additional events all in the name of raising funds for the 2014 Gambia trip.

On 13th October, a choir of angels descended on Upminster’s Trinity Church to provide a dazzling night of entertainment in the form of some outstanding choral performances. Shouts of “You’ve got the X Factor” and “Britain truly has got talent” were heard all around. Jokes aside, the night followed on from the success of the dog show with the final figure raised standing at just over £1300, bringing us ever closer to our target of £18,150.

16th November meant the night of GHISP’s inaugural quiz night! Other event taking another great step towards our final target, which wouldn’t have been possible if it weren’t for the great turnout we had on the night, raising over £600 for the GHISP project!

And finally, the event you’ve been waiting all year for, the GHISP Casino Night last weekend, which saw a church hall magically transformed into our very own Las Vegas Casino overnight, complete with its very own beverages, canapes and croupiers! Fun was had all around, with the drinks flowing and casino chips flying across the table like nobody’s money! We’re still waiting for the final figure on the amount raised but it is estimated to be around £1700, potentially with some matched fundraising from Barclay’s Bank.

After all these fantastic fundraising efforts, our final figure for the end of 2013 is estimated to around £5830, still a long way off of our target of £18150 but every little helps!

We’d like to extend our thanks to everyone who has supported our events and those who went to the effort of organising these successful events! This is only a small snapshot of all of the many events we have planned to raise vital funds for the project so your continued support is greatly appreciated.
