How it started
In 2009, Dragon Explorer Scout Unit (Upminster) undertook a trip to The Gambia to enrich their cultural knowledge and international relations.
Whilst out in The Gambia they spent most of their time in Basse, a town in the upriver (inland) part of The Gambia. They taught in schools, exploring many different subjects, on some days expecting to cater for 60 but had around 300 turn up instead! As well as teaching, a number of other community building and enriching activities were untaken too.
A brilliant news article produced by Susie Warren following the trip can be found HERE.
This trip initiated the production of GHISP and will play a vital role in planning of future activities.
